PET Scans
Our advanced PET scans use molecular imaging technology to visualize metabolic activity at the cellular level, helping detect disease before structural changes appear. By highlighting how tissues and organs function, PET imaging plays a critical role in identifying cancer, neurological disorders, and cardiac conditions, as well as assessing treatment response.
When It’s Used:
PET scans are essential for cancer detection and staging, evaluating brain disorders, monitoring heart disease, and tracking how effectively treatments are working.
The BHMI Advantage:
By combining advanced imaging technology with expert interpretation, our Beverly Hills Medical Imaging (BHMI) team delivers accurate, timely results that support confident diagnoses and personalized treatment planning.

What is a PET?
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) uses a small amount of radioactive tracer combined with advanced imaging technology to visualize metabolic and biochemical activity within the body. PET uses ionizing radiation to detect changes at the cellular level, making it especially valuable for cancer detection, neurological disorders, cardiac evaluation, and monitoring treatment response.
Available PET Exams
We offer a comprehensive suite of PET studies on our scanner, including:
– FDG PET/CT (Oncologic) — staging, restaging, treatment response assessment, and surveillance using FDG tracer.
– Brain PET — metabolic imaging for neurodegenerative disease, amyloid PET, and seizure focus localization.
– Cardiac PET — perfusion and viability imaging (includes Cleerly® and HeartFlow® PET-based workflows as clinically indicated).
Options include Rubidium (Rb-82) perfusion PET and FDG viability PET.
– Other PET tracers — amyloid PET, Ga-68 and other tracer studies when ordered by the referring physician.
– Cleerly® Cardiac PET — PET-based cardiac perfusion and viability imaging for detection of ischemia and assessment of myocardial metabolism;
useful for guiding cardiology management.
– HeartFlow® Cardiac PET — Advanced PET imaging and analysis for non-invasive assessment of coronary physiology and ischemic burden,
integrated into clinical reports for cardiology teams.
Patient Preparation
– Bring prior imaging and the referring provider’s order.
– Follow specific fasting or medication instructions provided at scheduling (varies by study).
– Hydration is typically encouraged unless instructed otherwise.
– Inform us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
