What is Interventional Radiology?
Interventional Radiology (IR) is a medical specialty that uses advanced imaging technologies—such as CT, ultrasound, MRI, and fluoroscopy—to guide minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Instead of traditional surgery, interventional radiologists perform treatments through small incisions using precise, image-guided tools. This approach reduces risk, pain, and recovery time while delivering highly targeted care. Interventional Radiology is commonly used for procedures such as biopsies, tumor treatments, vascular interventions, and pain management.
Available MRI Exams
We offer a comprehensive suite of advanced Interventional Radiology procedure, including:
– Joint Injections & Aspirations — ultrasound or fluoroscopy-guided injections for pain management and diagnostic aspirations.
– Epidural & Spinal Injections — targeted steroid or therapeutic injections for radicular pain and spinal stenosis.
– Varicose Vein Ablation — image-guided endogenous thermal or chemical ablation.
– Arthrograms — contrast studies for joint evaluation prior to surgery or advanced imaging.
– Biopsies & Drainages — percutaneous tissue biopsy and abscess or fluid drain placements.
– Vascular Access & Interventions — tunneled catheter placement, embolization, and angioplasty when indicated.
